Nizwa: The Goat Market
Our final day In Oman and we got up early to visit the Nizwa goat market and nearby souq. This was a real treat, as the early morning light was golden and made the whole scene like a beautiful film set. Surprisingly there were quite a few tourists present, or “cousins” as our guide Abdullah would say, so trying to keep them out of the shots was a challenge.

In fact, the market was so busy that some people climbed up on to the roof of the market to be able to look down on the scene, and they seemed happy to be photographed on their vantage point .

Nizwa Souq
The souq was situated right next to the goat market, and sold a huge range of goods from the ubiquitous frankincense, fruit and vegetables through to knives and guns which were on tables in full display.

Plus the souq was a great place for people watching generally!

As the market began to wind down, it was time for our group to make the journey back to Muscat to end our trip. It had been an absolutely fantastic experience, taking in the desert, the mountains and the scenes of Omani life throughout from the cities to the remote villages.
The trip made in incredible impression on me and will stand out as one of the highlights in my life. I do hope to return one day to see even more of this amazing country and its warm friendly people.
THE END
